Shift Bid Process
1. Annual Shift/Post Bidding
Happens once a year, every January.
The Union notifies the Company if a full-site bid will take place.
The Company then gives the full post/schedule list and seniority roster to the Union.
Members can bid on up to three post choices.
Awards are based on seniority - most senior gets first choice.
Ties are broken using the lowest last 4 digits of Social Security Numbers.
Once finalized, the Company implements the new schedule two pay periods later.
If you don't submit a bid, you will be assigned a post by the Company.
2. Filling Vacant Posts (Outside Annual Bid)
When a post opens up during the year:
Company notifies Union within 5 days.
Union posts the vacancy and sends out an email to all PSOs.
Members have 7 business days to submit their bid to the Union.
Post is awarded based on seniority and required certifications.
3. Temporary Openings
These occur when someone is expected to return (e.g. leave of absence).
Temporarily filled based on seniority.
If the post becomes permanently vacant, the temporary worker stays until a formal bid happens or they choose to move.
4 .Special Rules
If a Client removes someone from a post (not disciplinary), they can bid on any vacant post.
No rebidding for 6 months after being awarded a post.
TAS (Temporary Assigned Services) do not follow seniority rules, but only union members can work them.
Schedules must be posted 2 weeks in advance.
